Edward Francis Searles, a name that the Windham community certainly recognizes, but head several towns over and they may not have heard of him at all. Yet, at one point in the 1890s he was arguably the wealthiest man in the United States. On Wednesday, June 3 at 6 PM we will learn about the life of this remarkable man who had the knowledge and means to change the communities he touched. This will be a trip from his boyhood filled with tragedy to his later life as a recluse. Come learn about the man that left his mark on Windham with his impressive architecture! 

Rodney Rowland is the Director of Environmental Sustainability at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH. His 35 year career at this important National Register Historic site is in large part due to his passion for history and the stories of the people who lived before us. Mr. Rowland’s public speaking is his way to share these stories.
